Train timetables

I can use and interpret electronic and paper-based timetables and schedules to plan events and activities, and make time calculations as part of my planning.

Primary 6/7 have been learning how to use the 24hr clock in maths. Today I set them a challenge. In pairs, and using the laptops, the pupils had to plan a daytrip to Edinburgh. They had to use public transport to get there as well as do something worthwhile in the city. The pupils had to find the correct train times as well as opening times for shows, museums...etc.

They pupils were asked to record their findings on a word processing document and email it to me.

The pupils had to use 24hr clock to read the train timetables as well as apply these skills to a real life situation.

This exercise was really fun because we got to play on the computers to find the train timetables and work out times for when we were going to Edinburgh. Declan and I went to the Zoo, the castle and for lunch. It was great.
