Scholastic Book Fair

There will be a Scholastic Book Fair in school on Friday, Monday & Tuesday. Pupils are encouraged to bring money to school to buy a book. Prices range from £2.99-£10 and your child has a small catalogue in their school bag tonight. There are more books on sale than are shown in the catalogue but it gives you a rough idea.

Adverts

In language yesterday P6/7 were looking at advertisements. We started the lesson by looking at memorable adverts from the past (Irn-Bru, Monster Munch, Kia Ora, Chewits, Tango...) and discussed why these adverts were so good. We looked at the importance of a good slogan as well as the 'cool' factor.

The pupils were split into small groups and asked to make up their own adverts. Here are the results.

Snow, snow, snow...

Only 4 pupils have managed to make it through the snow drifts today.

If you are stuck at home and want to do some work then you could go onto the maths games on BBC bitesize or you could do some research on African Wildlife for your project.

Today P6/7 visited Amazonia at Strathclyde Park. They had a 45 minute tour and then a 30 minute handling session. We were interested in learning about African wildlife.

Important Visitor

Today P6/7 had a very important Visitor - Ellie Atkinson. Baby Ellie visited the class and thought that the boys and girls were working very well. She particularly liked being held by Marc.

Pupil of the Week

Well done Olivia!

RSPB

I can use my knowledge of the interactions and energy flow between plants and animals in ecosystems, food chains and webs. I have contributed to the design or conservation of a wildlife area.
SCN 2-02a

Today P6/7 were joined by P4/5 for a trip to the RSPB centre in Lochwinnoch. The pupils have been studying food chains in science and we carried out a number activities on this subject at the centre. The pupils looked in the pond and studied the creatures they found. They also went bird watching and looked for beasties in the grass. A superday and excellent weather.

Bird Feeders

Primary 6/7 were placing bird feeders in the playground in an attempt to attract more birds to the school. We are hoping to do some science lessons to do with this over the next few weeks.

Pupil of the Week

Well done Maryka! A super week.

A Visit from Mr Creighton

I can use and interpret electronic and paper-based timetables and schedules to plan events and activities, and make time calculations as part of my planning.

Today Mr Creighton visited P6/7 to see how they are getting on with their maths work. He gave the pupils a hand with the challenge that I set them today.

The Task

Little Jock McSlob has arrived home from school and had made himself comfortable on his favourite couch. Armed with cola, crisps and chocolate he is ready for an afternoon and evening of quality television viewing.

What shows can Jock watch between 3.30pm and 8.00pm?

The pupils had to use TV guides to help them with the task. They were asked to record the time the programme started and the length of the shows.
