RSPB

I can use my knowledge of the interactions and energy flow between plants and animals in ecosystems, food chains and webs. I have contributed to the design or conservation of a wildlife area.
SCN 2-02a

Today P6/7 were joined by P4/5 for a trip to the RSPB centre in Lochwinnoch. The pupils have been studying food chains in science and we carried out a number activities on this subject at the centre. The pupils looked in the pond and studied the creatures they found. They also went bird watching and looked for beasties in the grass. A superday and excellent weather.

Going to the RSPB was a lot of fun because we are doing an experiment called 'Do birds like different colours?' I liked the trip to the RSPB a lot the best part was finding a big slug!

Today we went to the rspb in Lochwinnoch. We went down to a pond and used nets to catch bugs in the pond .My group caught a spider and a boating beatle. The beatle was able to swim under water and it stuck its head out the water. After that we went to a forest and we got a tub and a mesh and put some leaves on the mesh. Then you just have to shake the mesh a little and you see bugs fall out. And then we got a pair of binoculars and went bird watching. We saw lots of bluetits and robins. I had a lot of fun.

This trip was great. My faviourite thing we did was when we tried to catch diffrent creatures in the lake.
It was really fun and I would like to do it again.

Today at the RSPB centre we were looking in a pond for insects. The pond was frozen and my group got a piece of ice in the net when we were fishing for insects. After this we went and looked at birds called robins and bluetits. My class also looked under some leaves for insects. It was a great day.

Today we went to the RSPB Center. We got to look at lots of different birds and insects.
First of all we went to a pond that was frozen over. We looked at the little insects in the pond.
Then we walked a little until we came to a spot that had two huts.
We were to pick up leaves and put them on a sort of net. We had to shake those leaves in the net over a tub. Ellie and I found a small spider and a slug.
After that we went and started to look at birds. We saw them eating bird seed. They were very beautiful.
Last of all we got to see where a wood pecker had pecked at a tree.
I loved the trip and I would like to go again.

Today we were at the RSPB in
Lochwinoch with Mr.Jewel's class.
p.4/5 went with a man called Jamie
while we went with Karen.
First we did some pond-dipping,we
didn't fint much because it's too cold for the little bugs.Next up was the mesh-trays we put some old leaves in some mesh and shook it over a tray, our trio found two beetle larvae,a moth larvae and a
shed skin from an insect.
Soon we got to the bird watching to see some birds feeding,we each had binoculars and were peeping at them. A robin was following us around the trees and kept singing.
My favourite part was when we were doing the mash and trays.
