As part of our 1960s topic we are going to learn about the Civil Rights Movement. As an introduction to this we have been learning about the Transatlantic Slave Trade. The pupils researched into slave ships using the laptops and found out some interesting facts. We talked about John Newton who was a Slave Ship Captain. He famously wrote the song Amazing Grace after he became a Christian.
I have set the pupils a challenge. I have asked them to find out a little bit about William Wilberforce and to tell me why he was so important. The pupils can post their responses on the blog.
Happy investigating!
